1.  Your last big show at WSG was 2 years ago.  Have you had any epiphanies between then and now in your work? Some highlights in development?
During this period I had the opportunity of building a number of large outdoor sculptures  for a buddhist congregation in Ann Arbor; they were structures of carbon fiber rods with ceramic or steel connectors.  One of them is in the present show.
 2.  Your work has a history of minimal surface treatment regarding glazes, could you speak to that observation a bit?
I have always felt more confident with form than with surface color and texture, that has often lead me often to work with bare surfaces; on the other hand there are some glazes that fascinate me, haunt me, actually, the crawling, dripping glaze in some pieces in this show is one of them.

3.  Could you comment on how you think your training as an architect has influenced the ways you build your pieces?
I often think about architecture, both as monumental form and as inhabited space, and both are often reflected in my sculptural work.

4.  When someone looks at your work, what are the things you want them to notice?
Going back to the previous question, a form is often generated from within, imagining a poetic space, and then I wish the viewer would picture him/herself inside monumental  versions of my small sculptures.

5.  What things about your work are important for you as the artist to be aware of, but not imperative for the viewer/collector to notice?
Everything that is relevant for me I wish I could communicate to the viewer; I am aware that it doesn’t always happen.
