We’ve done something a little different for our current show at WSG gallery. Each of the member artists took 9 panels and created smaller pieces, sketches/studies, if you will, to be hung in several grids in the main entry space of the gallery.
Personally, I found the exercise to be a platform to try new things, new tools and techniques. The pieces give the viewer a lot to look at and a lot to think about. Hanging the show was big fun – like a puzzle. The question was do we hang pieces that have something in common or nothing in common?
Candace Pappas’ rich surfaces are mesmerizing on her small panels, as are Takeshi Takahara’s images from his drypoint prints.
The pieces are small and affordable – $110 each – and it’s possible that you don’t have to pick and choose, but could take several of your favorites home!
