Adrienne Kaplan’s “Surf and Turf” show Jan. 2 – Feb. 9, 2013

“Surf and Turf is a show combining imagery based on two distinctly different environments: the seaside and the woods. I’m a seasonal painter. I can, but I don’t like to, make art about a time I’m not in. I prefer showing art of the particular season, but that is not happening here. This is work from last year, 2012 spring and summer. It’s not conceptual. It didn’t start from an idea. It started from something concrete in my visual world and became an interplay between the paint on the surface and my idea and feeling about the subject I’d chosen.”    Adrienne Kaplan
